N4: Forest Home
back against this bark sharp tree
sleep-wide eyes find respite free
angsty calm meets swirling mind
the forest lives and breathes in kind
this spot is soft with mossy life
whether lonely one or belovéd wife
there’s comfort here for all who seek
even brave young ones who deem to speak
hands trace lines in dirt beneath
sun’s less halo, more garland or wreath
this spot will suffice for all those in need
there’s no need for hustle, nigh neither for greed
leaves and twigs extend ‘cross the ground
to battle worn trees that make no sound
loving warm welcome from bright blinding sky
here all are equal, sans merit or try
transmute this place ov’r white marble halls
the nature of things is best outside walls
feel love from flowers, their petals spread wide
stand limb and limb with Mother beside
N5: The Bank 1
the water is crystal today
cold and pure
the rocky bottom flashes in the light
sharp and rough
lovely crystals peek out among the gray
it’s a wonder this spot exists
unspoiled and clean
heaven
N6: The Bank 2
the water is filthy today
warm acrid brown
the bottom hidden in grime and muck
unknowable
any beauty hidden away from view
this is a common site
ravaged and soiled
earth
N7: House Sparrow
the warm summer breeze blows steady but calm
chirp, chirp, the house sparrow calls
the cloud-shaded sun is gentile and warm
chirp, chirp, the house sparrow calls
the forest’s alive with critters at play
Chirp, Chirp, the house sparrow yells
the plant life is glad and dancing today
Chirp, Chirp, the house sparrow yells
Mother calls out with concern and with love
CHIRP, CHIRP, the house sparrow screams
I’ve given you all on land and above
CHIRP, CHIRP, the house sparrow screams
with love and service and passionate tries
still, there’s no way to soothe her cries
